Ballet North offer the opportunity for pupils aged 4 upwards to take examinations in ballet, accredited by the International Dance Teachers Association (IDTA).
The exams are conducted by a visiting IDTA examiner and pupils perform the relevant grade syllabus in groups of 2-4 in front of the examiner. The teacher does not perform with the pupils and it is a test of technique, memory, musicality and performance.
Pupils will be invited to take part in an examination when their teacher feels they are ready for this challenge.
Examinations are not compulsory, however working towards and achieving an examination pass is a valuable life skill and positive experience. It cannot be achieved by attending one class each week only and requires full commitment and agreement to:
-Attending class every week
-Regular supervised practice at home 2-3 times per week (music and syllabus notes will be provided by Ballet North)
-Attending an additional class each week (free of charge) in the half term leading up to the exam
-Attending and successfully passing a mock exam conducted by Ballet North
Next Examination Session:
(Rescheduled from July 2020)
Mock Exams: Sunday 15th November
Exams: Sunday 6th December
Please note, there is a fee for taking part in exams. These vary depending on the level of examination.

A very BIG CONGRATULATIONS to all our pupils who took exams in the most recent exam session in October 2020 (Rescheduled from March 2020). All pupils received either a Merit or Distinction and we are very proud of their achievement, particularly after such a challenging year. Well Done!
